Independence Air has Filed for Bankruptcy Protection

This time, Independence Air has filed for bankruptcy protection. With the number of US airlines in and out of bankruptcy will this one be different? I think so. Larger airlines in bankruptcy like Northwest or Delta don’t worry me nearly as much as a smaller carrier like Independence Air. The larger carries have more extensive routes and can cut back and still remain viable, while smaller regionals don’t have that luxury. Most recently, Midway Airlines tried to do it; but alas, they are no more. The fact is, smaller carries just don’t have the options the larger ones do and unless a larger carrier wants to acquire Independence Air, I don’t see much hope.
